HFD Charitable Foundation
Supporting projects and organisations in Glasgow and across Scotland
Pioneering innovation, creating value
HFD has a rich history of supporting charitable causes in Glasgow and Lanarkshire, supporting over 60 charities, and awarding a combined total of circa £2.5m to help those in need for over 20 years.
In 2019, HFD’s Board decided to centralise all our charitable activities under the umbrella of the HFD Charitable Foundation — the new philanthropic branch of HFD. This decision was motivated by our commitment to significantly increase our charitable contributions and actively engage our colleagues and partners in our mission.
Through the HFD Charitable Foundation, we aim to substantially increase our partnerships and grant funds, allowing us to support a broader range of charities and individuals while formalising and improving our charitable initiatives.
From Kiltwalks to fundraising marathons around our running track at 177 Bothwell Street, we’re fortunate to have a dedicated community at HFD, with our employees regularly doing their part. The HFD team are also encouraged to put forward grant recipient ideas, with many of our grants going to charities suggested internally, and we proudly offer matched giving on any charitable donations given by our staff.
Since being officially established, we have partnered with the Virgin Money Foundation since 2020 to deliver our Glasgow Community Anchors’ Fund — aiming to fund the vital anchors of Glasgow’s community to reduce poverty across the city. To date, our joint grant fund has totalled over £1m and is still going strong and substantially increasing for future years.
Pioneering innovation, creating value
Though our focus is to help those most in need in the local community of Glasgow, we also recognise when we can have an impact in wider times of need. Nothing made this clearer than the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to our fortunate position, being able to rely on collaboration from the network HFD provides, we were able to form partnerships with other organisations keen to help during this period.
In partnership with Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) and the William Grant Foundation, tenants at Ospa’s Strathclyde Business Park location, we provided emergency funds to food banks and those in need in local areas.
We are open to and interested in creating future, similar partnerships. If you feel you have something you would like to collaborate on, please get in touch.
Looking to the future
Rooted in Glasgow and Lanarkshire, our foundation is passionately committed to empowering local causes. As our business thrives in these areas, so should the charities we support. With HFD Charitable Foundation’s commitment to uplifting our community, we envision a brighter future. We are always keen to explore strategic partnerships to magnify our impact. Reach out, and let’s drive meaningful change together.
